My Favourite Book

Short essay on my favorite book

Introduction

I have read a lot of books. They appear to me in different ways. But the book that I like best is "Letters from a father to his daughter"
.
"We imagine we are so important and little things annoy us and worry us. But what are these little happenings in the long history of the world? It does us good to read and learn something of these vast periods of history because we will not then worry about little things much."
 – Jawarharlal Nehru, Letters From A Father To His Daughter.

The late Jawaharlal Nehru is the author of this book. This is a series of letters written by Jawaharlal Nehru to his beloved nine years old daughter Indira ( Indira Gandhi). This is a very interesting and descriptive book. This is a book of morals and ethics value no doubt. So, this book has been many times, regarded as a must-read book for the school and college students.

Contents of the book

The book deals with the story of the birth and evolution of the animal world. This book also describes the birth and evolution of human civilization. They are written in the right order.
The book is a collection of letters written by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to his beloved Indu (Indira Gandhi's pet name) in the summer of 1928 when she was in Mussoorie away from him.

The letters attempt to tell the story of the evolution of the human race in an easy way that suits a 10-year-old girl. From the very creation of the earth itself to the glory of Vedic ages, these letters have successfully encapsulated thousands of years of human history in thirty short letters without missing any major events as such.
The other invaluable aspect of this timeless classic is the sneak peek it renders the reader to one of the greatest modern minds that almost singlehandedly shaped post-independence India as we know it today. In these personal letters, Nehru's wide knowledge and strong convictions on topics in the varied realms of science, history, society, and religion is revealed.

There are thirty chapters in this little book. Besides, there are fourteen pictures in this book, these pictures are of some fossil fishes, extinct animals tells of the story of New Stone Age and the Old Stone Age, how the houses built in a lake?, about picture writing, about the Great Wall of China and the ruins in Egypt. The author has given very good pieces of advice all over the book. Hence, this is a very useful book for students. This book is in the English language.

It is not complicated rather very simple to understand. Complex ideas have been simplified. This is a book of history, geography, natural science and philosophy and full of general knowledge about our past. So, this book appeals to me very much.

Conclusion

I think that this illustrated copy of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's much-acclaimed book should be made compulsory reading for all children and teenagers in India. This book is widely read in the world. Because it is a very good book, I think this book will certainly appeal to any reader. Every student should read this book.
This is a binding book where all the letters of Nehru Ji is collected. I felt it is just a one-time read book, but shows a great connection between father and daughter.
