Short essay on tourism

Introduction

Tourism means the principle of traveling for pleasure. It is a hobby for many peoples. Many people travel to visit historical places around the world. They travel over countries in order to see the places of their respective interests like the structures of artifacts, ancient sculptural beauty, attractive spots of nature and so on.
        So, we find a lot of foreign tourists from different countries in India. The traveling of foreign tourists brings a lot of foreign reserves to the countries where they travel. Therefore tourism has become a source of income for the government as well as the local people. In the 21st Century tourism is developing at a great pace. It is now an emerging Industry. In the year of 1971, according to the Indian Government, the total turnover from the tourism industry was (15,000 Crore) fifteen thousand crores of rupees.
         Over one hundred and eighty million people were involved in this industry. Such a great profitable industry cannot be ignored by the Indian Government. That's why India is developing a great tourist spot around the country to attract more visitors. Besides, India wants to earn foreign exchange to strengthen her financial position.

Tourism In India

         India is a country of natural beauty. India, with a view to earning foreign exchange, taking several steps in developing its tourist industry. India has great potential for the tourist industry. For a pretty long time, Kashmir has become a regular receiver of tourists. Innumerable people come from abroad to visit this prettiest place in India. Most of the people of Kashmir earn their bread and fortune by dealing with tourists in various ways.
         Getting money from the tourists through hotels, restaurants, rest houses, boat-houses, conveyances and hawking, Pedling and guiding. So, the Kashmir State Government provides in its budget five crores of rupees for the development of tourism in the states of Kashmir during the fifth plan period.
          The Government of India is also providing special funds for the development of the tourist industry in the country. Indian Government is doing a partnership with the private players to developing various spots as a tourist destination. In big cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Calcutta, the Government has established a modern high-style hotels with modern amenities for the very rich tourists who may come to India. The places of tourist-interest are developed in multifarious ways like lighting, water-supplying, beautifying and so on. The Government is publishing books and maps about the various places of tourist interest.
         
           The Government's publicity machine is geared up to attract tourists by distributing booklets and by advertising in the leading papers, magazines, and periodicals of different countries. Besides, this government organizing different events to promote the tourist industry in the country. The Government is planning to check the beggars from coming to these places in order to keep tourists from embarrassment. Tourism has become one of the subjects for a three-year degree course in the college of Delhi University.

Conclusion

            The State Governments in India are now, also busy developing the places of tourist interest in their respective States. Each is state government is now eager to promote its tourist places so that they can attract many visitors. They are planning to bring new schemes for the good experience of the tourist.  The development of the infrastructure facilities also at a full swing around these tourist places. The government is pouring a lot of money into its tourist sector. It is hoped that tourism in India will highly develop by the combined efforts of the Central Government and the State Governments.
