Short essay on gardening

Introduction

There are many kinds of gardens, such as flower-garden, fruit-garden, vegetable garden, botanical-garden and the garden of medicinal herbs. Almost all the Indians have vegetable-garden close to their houses who have some space. These are known as kitchen-gardens. Schools too, have their own gardens for their students to work in.

General description

          Every garden has a fence around it. The fence is generally made of bamboo but one can use chain link fencing too. This is a new system of fencing and is more popular. Sometimes a green fence is raised around the garden. The garden is divided into some sections. Each section is divided into some beds. Each bed is surrounded by a dome shape earthen line which mainly divides two beds. There is a well in the middle of the garden or other water facilities.
          Some section is meant for flower plants, some sections are meant for fruit trees, some sections are meant for greens, some sections are meant for vegetables, some sections are meant for medicinal herbs. People raise different kinds of vegetables in different seasons. Generally, they raise brinjal, tomato, pumpkin, gourd, snake gourd, bitter-gourd, bean, pea, cauliflower, cabbage, turnip, spinach, radish, onion, garlic, lady's finger, yam, arum, and greens.

Gardening

            People spade the gardens, root or grasses, prepare beds, sow seeds, plant trees and water the plants. They keep the garden neat and clean. They also manure the gardens. They also follow the process of grafting. They also follow the process of transplanting it helps them to develop hybrid plants. Besides, this they follow germinating. They work, generally, in the morning time as there is sufficient availability time.

Usefulness

            It is very useful to have a garden. you can get fresh fruits and vegetables from the gardens. These are very nutritious. People work in their gardens in the morning time and have their morning exercise completed. They don't need to exercise anymore. So, their health remains well. They do not need to purchase greens and vegetables form the market. So, their money is saved. They also find pleasure in beholding their own collection.

Planning a Garden

             A good garden is necessary for every household. A good garden needs good planning. So, all should know to develop a garden. A garden can be made in any form according to the area available but the recommended form is in the shape of a square. Ensure that there is a strong fencing around it. There should be a suitable gate too. The garden should be divided into different plots for different kinds of plants. A water facility should be made in the middle so that the water can be reached to each and every corner.

General requirements

           A garden should be raised on a fertile land where water for the plants if available. Cowdung and compost are the best kinds of manure for a garden. As there is no profit motive involved the best and healthy seeds should be chosen to be sown in the plot. Only healthy plants should be planted. Besides, these many tools needed for the purpose of gardening. They should be always kept ready for use. Summer is the right season to start the garden. So that we can prepare the plots very well before the rainy season.

Importance

            Planning a garden is very important. Because the garden and gardening are very important for us. We get multiple profits from a garden. The first is that when we work in the garden it gives us physical and mental exercise which is good for our health better. The second is that we get green vegetables for our home. The third is that gardening is a happy engagement which gives us great pleasure.

           Gardening is no doubt a good work. Even Gandhiji spoke very highly of it. hence, everyone should know how to plan a good garden. Gardening is very helpful, no doubt. So, every family should raise a garden close to the house.
